Careers vs Employability

You’ll likely come across the following terms throughout your degree, but what do they mean and how can you apply them to your own experience?

Careers

Where are you heading?

While the term ‘career’ often refers to professions or occupations, it also applies to the choices and actions you take to explore and develop your career direction. UWA can support your career goals in a range of ways, such as one-on-one advice, workshops, career mentors and job opportunities.

Employability

Build your toolbox

Develop non-technical skills highly valued by employers that will help you stand out from the crowd, such as teamwork, communication and leadership. We’re here to help you build your employability at each and every stage of your degree so that you graduate job-ready.

Work Integrated Learning (WIL)

Learn in a work setting

UWA offers a range of WIL and internship opportunities that you can incorporate directly into your degree. These academic units allow you to practice what you learn in a professional setting while gaining credit as elective or broadening units.
